Faith Formation for Adults
We believe in the importance of lifelong learning for Christians through continued exploration of the Gospel and our faith as it applies to everyday events. We have offered weekday Bible Study classes and book groups, in addition to occasional Sunday morning discussions. Check out the descriptions below for more information on what’s available, and check out our calendar to see what opportunities are coming up.
Seekers of the Kingdom: A Contemplative Bible Study Group
Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of the Scriptures? Want to connect your weekly rhythm more intimately with your spiritual life? Do the demands of the secular world leave you feeling disconnected from your relationship with God? Fear not, for Jesus taught us not to worry about the distractions of the world, but instead to first “seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you (Luke 12:31 KJV).” To seek the kingdom properly, one must first learn the Word through the study of the sacred Scriptures. I therefore invite you to a weekly contemplative Bible study group, where we will read the narrative lectionary Bible passage of the week, meditate on its meaning, pray together, and then engage in the spiritual practice of contemplation.
We meet regularly on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00pm in the parlor. Please refer to the church bulletin for an up-to-date class schedule. I do hope you will be able to join us.
Spirited Book Group:
If you’d like to deepen your faith while exploring new and interesting books, this is the book group for you! We select a new set of books for the year each June, so there is always something fresh to explore. Even if you haven’t read the books, you’ll enjoy sitting in on our insightful, thought provoking, and laughter-filled conversations.
All are welcome. We meet Wednesdays in the Adkins Room from 10:00 am – 12 noon.
